Controlling Trash in a Dock Area

Debris BoomQuestion: I need a debris boom for pond trash control. We have a dock in one area of our pond and are looking for a way to control trash and debris in this area from entering the rest of the pond. What would you recommend?

Answer: For the type of area and control you are talking about, we would recommend our standard Orion Debris Containment Boom. This debris barrier is made using heavy duty 22-ounce PVC and sits with a foam filled collar that is either four (4), six (6), or eight (8) inches high. Sections of this debris barrier can be connected to one another through the use of an ASTM universal slide, allowing you to form the appropriate length for your dock area.

Deploying a Debris Barrier

Deploying this barrier from the shoreline of your lake allows trash and debris from the area to naturally wash back up along the shores, making it easier to clean up. You can collect this trash through various items, including skimmers, harvesters, and vacuum trailers.

If any of your trash is floating or if you feel that your debris boom might need to collect items other than trash (i.e. logs or wood from surrounding trees and vegetation), please see our full range of Containment Boom products. The trash net boom found on this page can be particular effective at catching debris under the surface, while our steel barrier offer more strength when dealing with larger items.
