What is the difference between a type 3 dot or hd silt curtain?

by Silt Barrier Tech Team
(Florida)

A customer needed a floating silt curtain, type 3, 10' and wasn't sure if he would need a dot or HD style turbidity curtain. The project required a silt curtain used for dirty water to prevent rubbish from entering a private beach area.

What is the difference between a type 3 dot or an HD floating turbidity curtain?

The main differences are the curtain fabric and the ballast chain. The type 3 dot silt barrier is made from 18 oz PVC coated fabric and comes with a 5/16 inch (8 mm) galvanized steel tension cable and a 5/16 inch (8 mm) galvanized ballast chain.

The type 3 heavy duty (HD) floating turbidity curtain is manufactured with a heavier 22 oz PVC coated fabric and provides two (2) 5/16 inch(8 mm) galvanized steel tension cables and a 3/8 inch (10 mm) galvanized ballast chain.
